7 hard signals for process orientation

Beyond the usage of maturity models to evaluate the sustainable competence to apply process management - whereof process orientation can be proven in the daily business?
To give some ideas we have compiled a list of 7 hard and essential signals, which of course can be always extended:

  • Process model: All members of Top-management have sufficient knowledge of the process regarding inputs, performance and outputs of all processes of the first two levels.
  • Management decisions: Upcoming management decisions always consider the implications on process objectives and execution.
  • Process manager: Process managers have the competencies and power to manage their related processes with full responsibility.
  • Ressource pool manager: Have internalised a service spirit towards all value processes and build up internal customer relations in a satisfactory way.
  • Process employees: All employees within processes activities have a present understading of their process output and the existing customer requirements, so they can assess value creating and reducing activities.
  • Incentive system: If variable incentive systems are implemented, they will be focusing on the objective fulfilment of processes and performance requirements.
  • Process organisation: The company has a clear roadmap how to reach the stage of a process orientated structure or has already reached this status.
